How To use HYPERGURU: Tags and Categories

Articles — THE HYPERGURU @ 8:31 am

Dear HYPERGURU readers,

I finally completed the full transition from the old category-based classification system to the new folksonomy, tag-based system.

Now categories will contain mostly types of information as links, articles, notes, interviews. While tags will actually categorize content on its topic. The archive contains now a tag cloud which is properly visually representing the entire content of the HYPERGURU Web site.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think about it.

Ciao,
Max

Comparison of instant messengers

links — THE HYPERGURU @ 10:04 am

A beautiful comparison matrix of instant messenger software tools. A huge list of instant messengers with full details about date of release, publisher, last stable version, cost, software licence, operating systems supported, protocol support, features and advanced conferencing functionalities.

It’s great, what if users now could rate each tool and the comparison table could be sorted by each column / field? It would be also useful if there would be a column specifying the best target audience and application for each tool.

Sequencing Instruction (Connectivism Blog)

links — THE HYPERGURU @ 10:14 am

Lately, I’ve been thinking about sequencing instruction. Various theorists promote sequencing in terms of:

* Moving content from simple to complex
* Moving content forward based on prerequisites
* Meeting goals of learners by advancing goals as content advances
* Linear content presentation (behavioural)
* Adaptive sequencing based on learner needs

Tested TagCloud on HYPERGURU

links — THE HYPERGURU @ 3:08 pm

I just implemented TagCloud, you can find my TagCloud at the bottom of Sitemap of HYPERGURU.

From what I can deduce the TagCloud is built not only on tags I provided in the articles but also by extracting keywords from the text content.

Nice!

Have a look a it: Sitemap of HYPERGURU.

Update: it’s at the bottom of the HYPERGURU’s Topic Archive.

Build your own TagCloud.

TagCloud: manage and publish your folksonomies

links — THE HYPERGURU @ 2:52 pm

TagCloud seems to be VERY promising and fun:

TagCloud is an automated Folksonomy tool. Essentially, TagCloud searches any number of RSS feed you specify, extracts keywords from the content and lists them according to prevalence within the RSS feeds. Clicking on the tag’s link will display a list of all the article abstracts associated with that keyword.
TagCloud lets you create and manage clouds with content you are interested in, and let’s you publish them on your own website.

I want to test it!
